Microsoft Hires 14 Year Old Modern Warfare 2 Server Hacker

Video games hack are being really common these days. And when you think about hack over the past few weeks your mind is automatically set to Sony and PSN first. Well the PSN hack was a PR nightmare for Sony and it definitely worried all the gamers whose credit card details were logged on the service, and needless to mention no access to online gaming, so it can’t really be helped.
Microsoft was dealing with its own little hacking incident while the PSN hacking was creating quite a mess. A 14-year-old Irish school boy known only as Jake some how managed to hack into the Xbox 360 servers for Modern Warfare 2 and cause a phishing scam alert .
Microsoft handled it pretty well so it didn’t spread out in media too much, but Microsoft was curious to acknowledge the cause of it and if it had anything to do with the PSN hacking incident. They managed to trace it back to this Irish schoolkid, which must have been quite a surprise for the company. It’s not every day someone so young is skillful enough to gain access to such a system.

To give Microsoft credit where it’s due, they didn’t take any legal actions against the boy. Instead, they hired him as the youngest employee. Microsoft wants to nurture the young talent and is trying to help the kid. With some good luck he could very well be the next Bill Gates.

Working with Microsoft in Ireland, Paul Rellis, managing director for the division said they aim to, “develop his talent for legitimate purposes.” Meaning, they want to hire him as a full time employee working on Windows 10 or the next coming iteration Xbox in a few years.
